One-Day Crowns & Bridges
CEREC Crowns
A crown is a permanent covering that fits over an existing tooth. Crowns are often used when a large filling wears out, a tooth is cracked, or when making a cosmetic improvement to the tooth.
- At Hooper Dentistry, we’re excited to offer crowns in just one day with the highly specialized CEREC system! No second appointment needed!
- Dr. Hooper will re-shape your existing tooth to provide an ideal fit for a crown.
- Instead of making a wax mould (mold) of your teeth, we will use a special camera to take an image of your teeth which is then uploaded to the design unit.
- The design unit uses CAD/CAM software which allows us to create a 3D model of your new tooth. This model will act as a blueprint for the crown restoration.
- We will then create the crown using our onsite milling machine using a block of the highest quality ceramic or porcelain that best matches your natural tooth color.
- Additional staining for ideal color matching & polishing will finish off the crown which is then cemented in place.
- You no longer need to wait 2-4 weeks, have a temporary in place or need multiple appointments. It’s so easy!
Bridges
Fixed bridges replace missing teeth. They are most commonly porcelain & metallic-framed for strength.
A bridge consists of a filler tooth that is attached to two crowns, which it over the existing teeth & hold the bridge in place.
Bridges not only prevent the loss of chewing function, but also prevent shifting of teeth which can lead to bit & jaw joint problems.
